First Night

This morning my family and I woke up for the first time in our new house. My son went to sleep immediately after a bedtime story and prayer, and slept the night through. Unusual for him. Things are still in boxes, but we are home.

Today is the Day

We still have not slept in our new house, but tonight is the night. I hope. We have a lot of work to do unpacking, but all the furniture and cabinets are assembled now. Next week, our schedules will return to normalcy after over a week with no home. Glory to God!

Moving Finished

Yesterday we moved our furniture out of the apartment and into the house. We had friends help us and had to make two trips, because the truck was small. Did it all in under 4 hours. Reassembling the furniture will take a day or two.

Moving

Today, Loaise and I spent the day putting the last of things in boxes to move, to give away or to throw away. Moving is hard work. Nilson has been at her mom's house during this time, where we are spending the nights. We will move tomorrow.

Cochlear Implant

Today I will meet with Dr Evandro Ribeiro de Oliveira about the possibility of a cochlear implant for my left ear. Here in Brazil the surgery and implant can be had for free through the one health program. Here in JF there are 2 surgeries a month and the waiting list is not long at all.

Friends in Japan

I have contacted my friends in Japan and they are all okay. This disaster is just so bad, though. Please pray, constantly and watch the news to know how to pray.

Mother of Lucas

Mother of Lucas left her house again 4 days ago, on a drug binge. Lucas is still in the hospital and suffering withdrawals. He may have Down’s Syndrome. We want to get them both into a clinic when he is released.

Praying Tozer’s Prayer

Lord, you have ordained me as your messenger to those that are stubborn of heart and hard of hearing. They have rejected You, the master. It is not to be expected that they will receive me, the servant.

Electrical Installation Done

We’ve finished the electrical installation. Just need to finish the painting and waterproofing in the house and we can set a moving date.

Moving

We’re still trying to get out of our apartment into a house that has been made available for us. It has needed a lot of work. We installed 3 doors and a window, built a wall, and are now doing electrical installation and painting.

Youth Retreat

Loaise and I spoke at a youth discipleship retreat here in Brazil.  We prayed with about 100 youth. I told the Bible stories of the wise builder, Peter’s confession and of Nehemiah. We challenged them to build on the right foundation.

Carpenters came

Yesterday two carpenters came and installed two new doors and began working on a window and another door. Today they return to finish those and build a wall for me. Tomorrow, the electrician comes.

Rehab

Loaise and I went to a drug rehab meeting with the mother of baby Lucas. Hopefully we can get her in a clinic together with Lucas. A one year program.

Workers

Today I was able to find two carpenters to come and install the doors and window. Perhaps they will be able to build the extra wall too. (a lot of work for a temporary place, isn’t it?)

Things take time

Yesterday no work was done on the house we are moving to. The carpenter did not show up. The mason didn't show up. I did sand and brush one wall down, but was sick and gave up after an hour. Still need to install three doors soon.

Baby Lucas Update 2

Yesterday took the couple that wants to adopt Lucas to meet the mother. She came home from her drug binge and is now saying she wants to keep the baby. I will take the mother to a meeting today where she will learn about a drug rehab clinic. Pray, please. Oh, and I am feeling really sick this morning. I woke up at 5:45 and felt like throwing up. Been that way all morning.
