Our laptop hit the floor today. I got the hard drive out of it, family pictures are safe. Hope the laptop can be fixed.

Who was the last person you shared with?

Most Christians have yet to open their portfolio of saved souls. Many set secondary goals of reading more Bible or praying more, rather than the primary goal of birthing spiritual children. It is easy to evaluate yourself. If you are good soil, then you should be bringing forth thirty, sixty and even a hundredfold fruit. -Victor Choudhrie

Hard not to get your hopes up.

Today in my search for a pastor position near the Greater Baton Rouge area, I received another rejection letter.

“We were very impressed with the sermons we heard as well as your blogs, but because of the length of time before you can return [to the US], we feel we must progress and call a pastor.”

The church, by the way, is a very nice one just outside of Baton Rouge. The man God calls there will have an enjoyable and fruitful ministry.

How far does your church outreach go?

A New Pair of Shoes

Igreja Batista da Vitória gave me a present of a new pair of black dress shoes in celebration of my 10 years in Brazil as a missionary. My best shoes were not looking good. Great present.

From Dr Joe McKeever

“I'd be willing to bet that one week ago, fully half of the people in the obituaries had no idea that a few days later they were going to be making starring appearances on these saddest of all newspaper pages.” –Joe McKeever

If there is any desire at all in your heart to live fully for God, start now.

John Wesley’s Influence

On http://beyondoutreach.blogspot.com Lessons from the Methodists, Part Two. They did all the good they could.

A Morning Prayer

For man does not know his time, like fish that are taken suddenly by a net. Ecclesiastes 9:12.

Accidents, deafness, seizures, sickness, death, and loss: I’ve seen them all appear out of nowhere, with unexpected suddenness. We must never delay in doing the work of God, for we do not know when an opportunity will end.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for another morning. Help me to do your will today, to be directed by your Holy Spirit in all my action, and to proclaim Christ in all my speech. Teach me to number my days, Lord, so that I can have a heart of wisdom.

Fire

Yesterday, my family and I saw a building catch fire. We were the first to warn the police and call the fire department. I kept shouting for the people in their apartments to leave the building, but they just walked around not believing me. Finally when the fire truck arrived, and the blaze was nearly out of control, they left. I was shouting to them, trying to prevent impending death, but they ignored me. Thankfully, the firemen were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to the lower floors.
