Great Easter Sunday

Our whole world has hope because Jesus Christ rose from the dead on this day. We live and we die, but there is the promise of a resurrection. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life, whoever believes in me, even though he dies, will live.” Do you believe?

MRI

Today I had an MRI and x-ray. In a couple of weeks Dr Oliveira will look at these and make a final decision with respect to the cochlear implant surgery. Loaise and I have talked and we have prayed. If I am a candidate, I will get the surgery.

Seminars

I am planning a storying, evangelism and leader training workshop for the Caiçares neighborhood in Juiz de Fora on May 5th - 8th. Still want to go back to Santarém and lead an orality and church planting workshop, having trouble scheduling.

English Lessons and Evangelism.

English and Evangelism - A series of God-ordained events led me into teaching English lessons again at a closed down school. Saturday, in another neighborhood, began to tell the good news to a woman who turned out to be a distant cousin of the owner of the closed school. She encouraged me to give my classes there and use the opportunity to evangelize that family. Pray for them please.

Adjusting

We are still adjusting to our new place and fixing things up. Still trying to work out our schedules and have time for work, family and ministry. Still working through the exams and appointments for a cochlear implant. Still setting up oral bible workshops and training. Still trying to write on the blogs and correspond. 

Sunday Morning

This is the first Sunday morning in a while where I am neither preaching or taking the whole family to church. I am at a bakery near Igreja Batista da Vitória, having coffee and counting my blessings.

Gasoline Prices in Brazil

With the dollar getting weaker and petroleum prices going up, gasoline is becoming unaffordable here. Last time I got gas it was USD$8.03 a gallon.

French and Spanish?

Nilson, our son, has been growing up naturally bi-lingual. He is four and speaks English and Portuguese. Today he discovered that he can play many of his Thomas the Tank Engine DVDs in Spanish and French. He now wants to learn to speak two more languages.
